Detroit's police chief is sticking to his guns after being criticized for supporting citizens to arm themselves.
Police Chief James Craig responded Thursday to a Detroit resident who challenged his pro-gun stance. Mr. Craig made national news earlier this month after he said armed citizens could serve as a deterrent to criminals, The Detroit News reported.
Coming from California, where it takes an act of Congress to get a concealed weapon permit, I got to Maine, where they give out lots of CCWs (carrying concealed weapon permits), and I had a stack of CCW permits I was denying; that was my orientation, he said at a press conference on Jan. 2. I changed my orientation real quick. Maine is one of the safest places in America. Clearly, suspects knew that good Americans were armed.

SC sheriff urges women to carry guns
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Spartanburg County’s sheriff is urging women to obtain concealed weapons permits and carry guns to protect themselves.
Sheriff Chuck Wright made the suggestion Monday in discussing the arrest of a suspect in an attempted rape last weekend.
Wright suggested that women carry a .45-caliber weapon so accuracy wouldn’t be an issue. He showed reporters at a news conference a fanny pack that women could use to carry a handgun while jogging.
The sheriff encouraged women to walk in groups. And he said it is better to carry a gun than mace.

Finally someone in Detroit gets it. There needs to be a lot more police chiefs like this in MANY American cities to curtail the violence. He should move to Chicago next, right after he gets Detroit back on its road to recovery.
There is one other major difference between Maine and Detroit;
Detroit has a bumper crop of criminals. Maine doesn’t.
Craig has done a lot of good things since taking the job. He did away with the idiotic idea of virtual precincts which were precincts that were staffed only during the day. No more letting a dozen officers gather at a crime scene where 1 or 2 are necessary. He’s even looking into criminally charging dispatchers who lie to callers after at least two people have been murdered while awaiting police that weren’t even dispatched. He cut the mayor’s security detail from 20 officers to 6. He restarted the stop and frisk policy ended years ago by Chairman Young.
The attitude of the people toward police has changed dramatically in just a few months. I noticed it in the praise from this woman after she shot at some attackers. A year ago she might not have bothered to call them at all.

Chief Craig was a failure in his last place holder job here in Cincinnati. only thing he is known for around here is changing the police uniform to all black. (go figure)

He went to Maine in between Cincinnati and Detroit. Maine is where he had his epiphany about citizens carrying guns. Perhaps someone form Maine can tell us how he did there.

Sandra Hines is desperately trying to keep Colemmanism alive in a city where its slowly dying. A few years ago she was trying to prevent the privately owned Detroit Bus Company from operating in competition with her beloved city bus service.
I bet she really hated to see Kwame Kenyatta pack his bags and head to Jackson Mississippi.
