As we’ve been talking about for months and months, billionaire San Francisco ex-hedgefunder Tom Steyer has been hinting that he’s going to go big in politics in 2014. He made it official Monday telling the New York Times that he’s going to spend big this year. Like $100 million big, making him one of the most significant outside forces in American politics.

Steyer supported the campaign of Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the 2013 Virginia Gubernatorial race through his NextGen Climate Action political committee. This support consisted primarily of releasing ads meant to portray McAuliffe’s rival, Ken Cuccinelli, as extreme on environmental issues, and in Get out the vote efforts.

Steyer dropped $8 million in support of Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe last year in Virginia. Dinesh D'Souza made a movie critical of Obama and this guy did not.

Depends on what he donates to (SuoerPacs vs individual candidates) and whether he tries to get others to donate and reimburse them. Dsousza can donate however much he wants to a Pac, but the limits to individual candidates caught him out, and the allegations that he got others to donate in their names, and reimbursed them, which makes him the donor, and put him over the limit.

Citing his “alarmingly unconstitutional behavior,” Coulter cited his “disregard of the Obamacare law, disregard of immigration law and disregard of the drug laws” as three main reasons he should be impeached. “He has no role in writing legislation. He’s vetoing legislation by refusing to enforce it. This is the bottom of the slippery slope,” she said. “I think he would be impeached if he weren’t America’s first black president.”

He’s seems like Al Gore, global warming crony capitalist big on alternative energy. One nice thing about wasting other people’s money on uneconomical technologies is it’s a little cheaper to go completely off the grid now. We may need to.

He is attempting to buy elections and in this case it should be illegal.

Tom Steyer opposes, and will stop, the TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline because his Farallon Capital Management owns Kinder Morgan, which is pushing to expand a pipeline from Alberta to Vancouver; Nexen, one of Calgary’s largest energy companies; and Potash Corp., the Saskatchewan mining giant. Farallon owns stakes in CB&I, a leading pipeline and oil platform manufacturer, and Union Pacific, one of many railroads moving more and more oil with existing pipelines full. Farallon also still holds stock in BP.

He's just a crony capitalist (Fascist) using the government to eliminate competition, and supply China with cheap oil at the same time.
