Robert McCartney slimed a Northern Virginia Catholic priest in a Sunday column in the Washington Post for his decision to end his parish's relationship with the Boy Scouts for letting openly-homosexual youth to join as scouts. McCartney blasted Father John De Celles, pastor of St. Raymond of Peñafort parish in Springfield, for his supposed "diatribes against gay behavior, liberal activists and similar targets in his weekly columns."
The columnist later touted how "De Celles is in the minority" in disbanding his parish's Cub Scout pack and Boy Scout troop, and bringing in an alternative youth group that "discriminates against boys who refuse to hide their homosexuality," as he spun it. He all but called for discrimination against those who defend traditional sexual morals: "I hope and expect that those with narrow-minded views will be the ones who end up 'marginalized.'"
McCartney led his column, "No. Virginia Catholic priest is in minority in region in breaking with Boy Scouts over gays" (titled "Priest deserves to be in minority over Scouts, gays" in the print edition) by claiming that Father De Celles acted against the wishes of Pope Francis, due to the pontiff's much-hyped "who am I to judge?" remarks about homosexuals....

So this libtard would not mind if conservatives marginalize him?
Oh wait, we already know he doesn’t like it based on his little hissy fit.
Must be nice to be a liberal and never have to face your own hypocrisy and double standards.
But I've read the end of the book and it's not over until we win.
OK so we have gone FAR PAST wanting ‘acceptance’ of deviancy and now are into full-fledge DEMANDS under threat of penalty.
What did God ever say about making sure to be in the majority regardless its level of perversion?
Liberal fascism on display.
Well, there you have it. Catholic priests are marginalized because 1. (donthca know) they are all pedophiles; and 2. they discriminate against gay scout masters.
We are constantly being subjected to news media reports about law suits over sexual abuses which mostly occurred 25-40 year ago by priests against minors. And since the overwhelming majority (up around 85-90%) of these cases were about teenage boys and homosexual priests - now the news media is upset that Catholic schools do not want homosexual behavior in their boy scout troops.
These folks just cannot make up their minds. One thing is consistent, however. If they can find any reason to bash a Catholic priest they will do it.
Our EPC church did the same thing.
Just called my daughter who lives in Fairfax County that I finally found a church for her.
Father De Celles. This is what martyrs are made of.
All the squealing by this Lefty communist is music to the ear.
Boys are a mark for the gay agenda foisted on the Boy Scouts.
There are plenty of other ways to match the traditional BSA virtues without propping up their agenda driven leadership, or sticking around to be victimized by their evil participants.
God bless Father De Celles.
Did it stamp its little foot and throw a tantrum about its obvious sexual preference?
Russia and Uganda have the right idea. Those in the US should’ve always declared God’s solution to this particular problem, rather than “tolerate” them. God considers the behavior no different than murder, prescribing the same punishment for both.
You are free to associate with whoever you wish. If a given individual puts you on notice that his or her activities are an antithesis to your values, there is no obligation to associate with such an individual. As a parent you are well within your rights to instruct your minor children in accordance with your values. If you are a spiritual leader your congregants would expect to hear your opinions and for your actions to be consistent with those opinions. Of course liberals accept none of this and attempt to use the coercive action of government to curtail these freedoms.
I’ve never understood how the Catholic homosexual priest molestation crisis has somehow NOT become something which reflects badly on the homosexual community. Anybody know why this is?
One would think that so many homosexual priests abusing boys and young men would reflect badly on that community. Not unlike how the “knockout game” reflects badly on the black community. Yet, you never hear any negative statements towards homosexuality based on these priests actions.
Because the goal was the denigrate the church.
‘Marginalized’ will soon be replaced by ‘Eliminated’.....................
Leftists really do hate freedom.
I stand with Father De Celles.
And not with the fraud Pope.
Great quote... thanks.
You’re welcome! :-)
The whole thing about Boy Scouts is well, it was never supposed to be all about sex, period. It was about developing a trade in nonsexual activities that are uh, actually relevant in life, and developing a work ethic as a young man, that you stereotypically pretty much are doomed not to have in sitcoms nowadays.
Thanks for this quote, because it is well, very true.
You’re welcome! :-)
I recently engaged in a lengthy e-mail “battle” with none other than EWTN Radio’s own “Reverend” Mister Al Kresta, regarding the incredibly alarming, foolish statements which Pope Francis has uttered in interviews with the press lately. While the talk-show host valiantly attempted to decisively “put-me-in-my-place” by “dazzling” and—so he thought—intimidating me with the “astounding breadth” of his knowledge of Catholic Church history, mentioning endless “councils,” “convocations,” “encyclicals,” “papal bulls,” etc., I ended by telling him, not only that His Holiness has done absolutely nothing to engender confidence in those of us genuinely “on the front lines” in this war against dangerously oppressive, unbridled secularism, but that both he and his fellow EWTN “apologists” urgently needed to enroll in a crash course in Christian humility. Notwithstanding Francis’ outrageous remarks, the arrogance, braggadocio and grandiosity of some of these so-called “Catholic celebrities” is nothing short of appalling!
1. Conscience isn’t (or shouldn’t be) subject to majority rule.
2. Mr. McCartney, as he could rather easily have found out, is hearing what he wants to hear of that quote from Pope Francis. But research is hard.
3. I myself hope and expect that those with narrow-minded views should be marginalized. It’s hard to imagine more egregious examples than some of those currently running the country and reporting on it.
I wonder if responsibility is even living in his conscience?
i dunno. it’s clear the golden rule isn’t in him.
Thank you for the ping.
Prayers up for this priest and his parish as they bear the onslaught wrought by the Evil One.
Nothing to do with this particular topic of homosexuality, but you reminded me of something very alarming that I heard on EWTN radio recently.
Recently, I turned on my car radio to EWTN and caught part of an interview with the authors of a new book. Raymond Arroyo was interviewing James CarVILE and Mary Matalin. I was so repulsed! I just wonder what Mother Angelica would have to say about giving air time to a disgusting pro-abortion, pro-homo pig like CarVILE.
