This looks like a potentially very good thread.
Let me introduce into this, American jobs.
America’s experiment with exporting American jobs has gone on too long, and needs to be reversed.
Now.
Bring back American jobs. Lots of American jobs.
Stop buying everything imported.
Just saying. America did not become strong, but buying things from China.
America grew strong by MAKING THINGS RIGHT HERE.
Bring back American jobs.
The jobs weren't exported. They were driven out by trial lawyers, unions, and zealous Federal regulators.
Until those things are fixed (with tort reform, right-to-work laws, and regulatory overhaul) the jobs will stay overseas.
Even if the U.S. didn't import a single manufactured product from a foreign nation, we'd be producing those things here in heavily automated facilities that don't have many employees at all.
“Americas experiment with exporting American jobs has gone on too long, and needs to be reversed.”
The problem is, companies prefer to outsource to socialist/communist countries where costs/regs/bribes are pretty stable, rather than deal with our emerging socialist/communist where costs/regs/bribes are still in flux.
Don’t expect that to happen. On top of all the other reasons given here, business is backing amnesty to get even more cheap labor for the few remaining jobs which haven’t been automated. I really don’t know who they expect to buy their goods, unless it’s government and the luxury trade, because when this is finished, middle class Americans won’t be able to, if there’s a middle class left. Right now, the middle class is being forced to subsidise the leeches at the very top and the very bottom.
If only it were that simple....
National Review is nothing but free trade.
North Dakota discovered the "secret" to this: DRILL BABY, DRILL!
Want to put this country back on top? DE-REGULATE and open all federal lands to oil exploration and drilling. Build new refineries and mandate that ALL the fuel be sold domestically until pump prices drop to $1.50-$1.80 per gallon and only then can the oil companies start selling overseas. Also give huge tax credits to domestic oil companies that do NOT do business with OPEC on a large scale. Encourage fracking and build the dang Canadian pipeline!
