The hypocrisy of the GOP-E, of the McConnell's, Cornyn's, etc. is obvious:

So . . . um . . . if the debt ceiling needed to be raised for the country, the economy, and the people, why did John Cornyn and Mitch McConnell vote against raising the debt ceiling?

They both criticized Ted Cruz for wanting to block raising the debt ceiling, but they voted with Ted Cruz against raising the debt ceiling.

That’s a very good point, and I can’t believe that it hasn’t occurred to me before. Of course, they started out by saying that they voted “against” the rise, as if their cloture vote was invisible. It seems that now they’ve realised that won’t work, but neither will this, as you point out!

I also believe McConnell and Cornyn had releases bragging about voting the debt ceiling, while not mentioning they were complicit in getting the damn thing to the floor. Don’t let them off for their subterfuge.
