Anger at your inability to pay does not put food on the doctor’s table.

Prove you can pay and you will get better service.

Possible solution: Pay the doctor a yearly retainer.

Possible solution: Put an acceptable amount of money in escrow.

It is not safe, if he is the sort of man
who resents it—and still less safe, if he is the
sort who doesn’t.”
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is a powerful line, “ ...if he is the sort who doesn't.”

Let's look at our nation's system of socialist-entitlement and single-payer schooling. What sort of person seeks work as teachers and principals in these SS schools? Answer: People with the lowest SAT, ACT, and GREs on campus. Fluff-heads!

Who said I was unable to pay?

What I said is that some doctors will not even try to find out if you can pay because they like the new socialist form
of health care in favor of a free market economy.

Thats what i’m angry at.

Don’t worry; we’ll be on the list of political criminals, so it’s not like we’d ever qualify for surgery.

I was trying to be funny, but in this day and age, derms have a good practice situation.

Doctors do not want a socialistic health care system. they are just trying to survive. However, there are so many rules, that accepting a self pay patient is a liability. I think most docs would love a free market system. That is why concierge medicine is getting more popular. They can charge what they want, however there would be competition if they charged too much. They would not have to hire billing staff, because the patient would have to pay up front .The patient submits his own claims to the insurance company..If you cannot pay, you don’t get seen and the doctor is absolved of charges of abandonment. They have a right to fire you without the 30 day rule. That sounds like heaven to me.

I would think you are correct, and I would assume that most doctors WOULD prefer a free market system.

However, what I am finding out is that SOME do not.
This was the point of my original post.
Some cannot stand the fact that concierge medicine is gaining in popularity, as they see it RIGHTFULLY as a threat to their own practice.

Don’t be fooled... many doctors have partaken of the kool-aid along with MOST of the insurance companies.
