VW was neutral. This is their only non-union plant.

If they had opposed the union, it probably would have lost by much more.

VW was silenced by the powerful German union. With Tennessee being non-union, it stands to reason expansion will be in the U.S. where they can obtain a larger profit margin. Dealing with unions is like holding rattlesnakes in a religious ceremony: do it enough and you will be bitten.

No it wasn’t don’t forget where where and how VW started from. The German unions have always had a heavy hand in its corporate structure. Thank you Willy Brandt and the German socialist party. Brandt btw spent the war years working in Detroit when he returned he became mayor of west Berlin and eventually Chacellor. VW wanted the union it may still come to pass.

Don’t expect German workers to be happy. I imagine their po’ed about the plant being built overseas at all.
