The U.S. Senate could approve a one-year extension of the U.S. debt limit by mid-afternoon on Wednesday after Republicans and Democrats agreed to shorten debate time ahead of an approaching snowstorm, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said.
The Democratic-controlled Senate at 1:45 p.m. (1845 GMT) will take a procedural vote on the "clean" debt ceiling hike passed on Tuesday by the House of Representatives, where Republicans hold the majority.
Should the legislation receive the required 60 votes to advance, the Senate will move immediately to a final vote on the measure, said Reid, a Democrat. The vote would likely occur between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Jerks
Cornyn whipping GOP votes for Reid for cloture then voting against the bill. Weasel.
They are blaming GOREBULL WARMING for this WINTER DISASTER!
There’s always some “emergency” or “holiday recess” that requires them to speed things up, or in other words, get this passed before the people know what we’re doing!
Well, we’re watching anyway and we can strike our first blow in the Texas primary on March 4th, with early voting beginning 2/18.
Anybody but Cornyn on March 4th!!
We’ll find out in 45 minutes how many GOP votes Cornyn delivered to Reid for cloture.
I think this is great. Whether its drawn out or not the rats will eventually get 5 RINOs to cave. Doing it like this just put Cornyn in the spotlight as a weasel and may be the nail in his primary coffin.
Don’t look now but the Dems aint alone in this one:
“How John Boehner decided to give up on the debt limit fight”
“This weeks debt-limit drama ended as it began: with House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), standing alone before his colleagues, seeking consensus but receiving only silence and stares in return.
The scene happened Tuesday morning at the Capitol Hill Club, where House Republicans had gathered for a private breakfast.
After listening to a handful of colleagues flatly discuss fundraising strategy for 30 minutes, Boehner stood up, walked past dozens of sleepy, coffee-sipping Republicans and tersely woke up the room with an update.
Listen were going to move forward, Boehner said. Instead of bringing up the leaderships plan, which would link a restoration of recently cut military benefits to a debt-ceiling extension, he would push a clean bill, averting default more than two weeks before the Treasury Departments debt-limit deadline...
9. Cornyn Has Voted to Raise the Debt Ceiling Eight Times
Since entering office in 2002, Senator Cornyn has voted to raise the debt ceiling eight times (including the debt ceiling increase contained in number 1, above). Raising the debt limit only encourages reckless spending in Washington. Congress needs to cut spending and balance the budgetnot continue to increase our national debt without any spending reforms or reductions.

When Cornyn first went into the Senate the national debt was something like $6 trillion. If he wins and serves anther term, by the time he leaves, it will be in the neighborhood of $26 trillion. Some conservative!
Just shows you how little regard Cornyn has for Texas voters that he would pull this crap mere weeks before his primary challenge.
He's obviously banking on the hope that voters won't notice this bit of parliamentary malfeasance, or that they're too stupid to understand its implications.
Cornyn’s modus operandi is beyond insulting:
Whip GOP Votes for Harry Reid (Amnesty, ObamaCare, Debt Ceiling, etc)
Vote YES on Cloture (Amnesty, Obamacare, Debt Ceiling, etc)
Vote NO on the Bill (Amnesty, Obamacare, Debt Ceiling, etc.)
Criminals. Years from today the young people of today will p*** on their graves.
