We are supposed to get 5 plus inches but so far only a sprinkling. I guess this afternoon and tonight are going to heat up.
Indeed...you would be hard-pressed to find a better friend if you lose power in those temperatures.
AND I can feel self-righteous about doing my part for global warming!
Bonus points for that!
I just heard from my nephew in Covington that he still has power. His abode is a customer of a small co-op power company named "Snapping Shoals", LOL. This company's grid is holding firm....while all around those with Georgia Power are going down with outages.
I told him to keep me updated via email as long as he can. He said he's well-prepared with lanterns, firewood and appropriate food....and he's NOT going anywhere!

I agree with you. And I believe that the Yellowstone Caldera and the New Madrid fault line will finish America off.
We get ice storms and power outages in Oklahoma frequently. That’s why many of us own generators.
luckily, we don’t get them often at all. Just often enough to have a functioning wood stove in working order :)
Georgia is now up to 133,000 customers without power.
The problem here is it cooled to just above freezing for several days, rained last night, then froze.
To anyone sneering at the South today:
It’s not the cold.
It’s not the snow.
It’s the thick layer of ice all over everything.
Ice storms suck for you too. We’re having one now.
We aren’t having any ice we are having snow and it starts tonight. I’m not sneering at the south so let’s not get annoyed with us Yankees!
I believe that also. I think when the LORD pulls His bride home to Heaven, America is going to come apart at the seams. Our enemies will see the chaos here use that as chances to attack America. I think that the big one out in Californiastan, like LA, SF, etc., will totally destroy them. Seattle and Portland, I think that Rainer and Hood will explode and crush Seattle, Tacoma and Portland. I think the Yellowstone will explode. In the middle of the country we have been having earthquakes. Those will grow larger. Storms from Canada and out of the Gulf will make Katrina look like a summer night’s light rain shower. China, the Soviets, Iran, all will hit America. The best of the best will have left this Republic in the Rapture of the church. America will have an economic meltdown. All those jobs of hard working Christians, empty as they are gone. Our mortgages going unpaid, bills unpaid, etc. It will take the government months and months to figure out who departed so they can rob our bank accounts, but they will be so busy with the attacks, meltdowns, earthquakes, storms, etc., there will be little time to be looking at our bank accounts. The Obama types will be going strong with locking up good people, but unbelieving people who were left behind. There will be millions of decent, good, people left behind. But, being good will not get one Raptured. Only believing in Jesus Christ will accomplish that. So, they will be left here. And they are the ones who will be at war here in the country with the Gestapo that Obama creates. It is not going to be pretty.
Still no problems in Lilburn. We have almost no ice on our lines at the moment but sleet has picked up.
If you look at the outage map someone linked above you’ll see that over half the outages in the state are in the southern crescent under Atlanta. Then there’s a scattering across the state until you get the Augusta (26,000 out) and Statesboro (8,000 out).
Yeh most of these ice events hit downtown and South of town the hardest.
Blizzard bumps....
I’m up north and west of Dahlonega on Amicalola EMC.
Haven’t had a problem as yet.
They are really good about clearing
lines and such in the fall.
Had about 3” up here, was sleeting earlier.

Just to let you know when the Dec 22nd ice storm hit Toronto 300,000 customers were out at the maximum. Crews worked round the clock right through Christmas to get power back. Slowly the power was restored and it took about 8 to 10 days to restore everyone in the city. The power outage map looked like a checkerboard. Friends of mine lost power but the next street over had power. I was lucky and didn’t lose any for the duration. All the best to those affected.
