Here is one of the most alarming signs that the U.S. economy is still far from healthy: More than one in six men between 25 and 54 years old the prime working years arent working. Thats 10.4 million men, more than double the population of the city of Los Angeles.
Some of them are looking for jobs. Two-thirds say they arent. Some are supported by families or friends; men without jobs are far less likely to be married than men with jobs. About 2 million of these prime-age men are on Social Security Disability Insurance.

And, based on my interviews of many of these folks as a triage interviewer at a local food/clothing bank, I posit that at least 30% are on SSDI fraudulently.
They lose their job, go on unemployment and simultaneously apply for SSDI. They get a good SSDI lawyer that knows how to work the system. It may take a year or more to be approved for SSDI. No problem, because in the meantime they are collecting unemployment pay. End of day, they're getting a monthly check from you and me for the rest of their life.
SSDI is the new welfare.
“I told him that he would get the job but that he would not keep it or get promoted.... He was DOOMED.”
you are so wrong, i’m afraid. when he isn’t hired, or promoted if hired, he will file a discrimination complaint, and win. that’s how it will work, and does work. he cannot be fired for the same reasons, but might be encouraged to apply for other jobs with his current boss providing him with a glowing reference.
Back in the projects? Ha! He probably has a high-paying job in the Obama administration.
These are supposed to be a man’s prime working years, and the primary reason to exist for men of any age is to be doing something, that is, working.
Therefore, this translates to AT LEAST a 17% unemployment rate.
IT and load the brown trucks.
Keeps the mind sharp and the belly flat.
As companies trim the fat to stay competitive the tokens are the first to go; in the end, a company wants to know you can help it make money - and the tokens are just measures taken to prevent lawsuits. They provide no value to a company at all.
“They won’t because they won’t wash toilets, bus dishes, sweep streets, haul trash or wash cars. Anything like the above is BENEATH them.”
In my area those jobs aren’t open to Americans; employers would rather cut costs by using illegals. Less taxes, paperwork, safety requirements, etc.
Wherever he is I wish him well.
John Galt is very destructive.
The current choice is America or China.
China is winning. Bring back jobs to America.
Now.
WELL PUT.
QUESTION: Wouldn't preventing lawsuits be of SOME value to a company?
That is a win-win for all since the illegals get cash and pay no federal taxes on their income and the employers get cheap labor and pay for no health or unemployment benefits.
It's ILLEGAL and WRONG but why let little things like that get in the way?
John Galt is not a banker or government economist after all, except in an overly large work of fiction. Such fictitious character hasn’t done a day’s real work in his life. He’s more of a “people person.”
Men who are a subset of the lowly, now effectively unemployed pool of consumers are the real inventors, builders and maintainers. The effete, in contrast, are dreaming and passing gas again.
The big picture is to play out the clock and hurry the boomers along. Then when all that’s left are the feedlot stock, the moslem pod people will have no opposition. America is now part of the ash heap of history since it is no longer a Christian nation.
“QUESTION: Wouldn’t preventing lawsuits be of SOME value to a company?”
Yes, it does; companies simply retain other “preferred minorities” that meet the criterion set by the courts (but actually offer some value beyond the lawyer-repellent). In my area that would be Hispanics and women.
That would be in the West or Southwest--California.
Not sure what this is in response to; that wasn’t my comment. ?
Then it was MY error, pure and simple. :o)
Thanks.
No worries; just didn’t want any misunderstanding. FRegards!
