DENVER (AP) Marijuana farmers and agricultural tax breaks are the next wrinkle facing the states that have legal weed as lawmakers debate how to tax the product while its growing.
Legislatures in both Colorado and Washington are taking a look at pot farmers this session.
The states have already decided how to tax finished marijuana. But they are still mulling taxes as pot is produced, such as how the land on which marijuana is grown should be assessed for property taxes.
Some lawmakers in both states say marijuana growers shouldnt be eligible for any taxation perks afforded to farmers that grow conventional crops. Others say that marijuana while its growing should be treated like the hops and barley that go on to become highly taxed alcohol.

The next five-year plan farm bill will have something for the pot farmers. 80% of it will go to subsidize pot for the poor.
Ping
I think we need to look at industrial pot and the myriad of things it is usefull for
Another interesting thought is that in Washington, the state is only allowing a set amount of sq. ft. or acreage to be used for growing in the entire state. Subsequently, might it not be possible for someone to apply for subsidies for NOT growing as many farmers have done in the past?
I've had to deal these bums and their aggressive behavior in apartments and a couple have self evicted.
I sure hope the don't just give this cr@p to the poor or subsidize it.

I didn’t know that the new CO law legalized industrial scale pot farming. AFAIK it only legalized growing six plants at a time for personal use. Must be more to the law than I thought.
Surely they’ll get paid not to grow, right?
Sorry I don’t know if industrial pot was legalized anywhere but it is my belief that pot should grown for production and not for smoking
Apparently TPTB are discussing how to regulate industrial scale production so I guess there was some provision for it.
A funny story. Well funny to me, a native on the Pine Ridge reservation was growing hemp and just when he was about to harvest the feds showed up and burned up his crop. He kept trying and the feds kept burning till they threatened him with arrest. Now the lakota tribe is considering legalization
Hmmm, will the FedMob risk another stand off at Pine Ridge over pot farming? Probably not.
Now I wonder if I could get them to pay me
to NOT grow weed? How hard could it be?
