While I love the idea of Free Enterprise, big mulitnational corporations are as a general rule, not interested in such a concept. They get and stay big because they manage to play the system and use the government to promote their businesses and to stifle competition from start ups.

Hence you see the huge backlash from "LORD BUSINESS" against the Tea Party. The Tea Party people want to end this marriage between government and business and the big corporations all see the Tea Party as a threat.

The American Revolution began as a rebellion against the British East India Company monopoly.

Correct and even the Caribbean islands would have revolted, but they were too dependent on government, in this case British military might.
