BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- The University of Alabama at Birmingham is suspending high school field trip tours of its human anatomy lab in the wake of an incident this week in which a student was caught taking a "selfie" with a cadaver.
The photo was posted on Instagram after the Monday outing before outrage led to it being deleted.
Despite strict guidelines against taking photos or even having phones in the area, a Clements High School senior removed a sheet and took the photo of herself grinning next to the dead body, officials said.
"At this point the tours have been suspended for the semester," said UAB spokesman Jim Bakken. "We will look at the procedures and policies in place to make sure something like this cannot happen again."

Let's punish everyone in the school.
That’s nothing.
I saw a video of some med students who substituted a student for a cadaver before a demonstration of sort.
The instructor was standing at the head of the class when the “cadaver” was wheeled in. As the instructor was about to start cutting, the cadaver jumped up and scared the daylights out of the instructor.
Med students have a particularly strange sense of humor.
No problem, the Obamadork has requested this sicko for the West Wing Clown Show of Felon/cretins.
Damn funny
We found out later in the day why. The professor most of us had in biology, had died the night before and he was to be the person to be autopsied..
Exactly. Too young to appreciate her own mortality, and the indignity of death. In the fullness of time, however, she will learn of it soon enough.
“Let’s punish everyone in the school.”
That IS the American way.
The typical American response to any problem is to #1 blame the system and #2 create or modify the rules for everyone. We have rules for everything these days as though the rules themselves have the power to fix all problems. It’s a cultural sickness.
“...over punishment and the appropriate response would be a verbal and written apology.”
“Well, like, whatever OK, dude? I’m like sorry I did that. Is that it? Can I, like, go now?”
Yep, that’ll teach her.
You went to college with freepers?

Yep, laugh or go crazy because of what you have to deal with. Just be careful who you tell your “war stories” to. Most people can’t deal with them. Learned from experience.

Was the dead guy offended?
Would YOU be offended if some high school kid took a selfie of herself with your recently deceased parent, or wife, or child?
It’s not the deceased that took offense, but the lack of respect for same that insulted the family and loved ones.
The student should be ashamed of herself, and be ostracized by her peers for such a violation of decency.
If the instructor had been totin' one of these, they might not have thought it so funny.
LAUGH IT UP, CADAVER BOY!
Perfect description.
I would imagine that dealing with death and mutilation requires one to develop some sort of emotional protection, so gallows humor could help with that. But this girl was just being disrespectful and blatantly disobeying the rules, IMO. Not surprising, given the fact that so many young people today are not taught any sort of reverence or respect.
You forgot #3: Throw money at the problem regardless of whether it helps or hinders.
