It seems that Colon Powell knows not what he’s talking about as usual.Republicans and especially Conservatives want Votor laws because illegal aliens should not be allowed to disenfranchise us but diluting our legitimate vote.
IIRC, during the rout of the Iraqi army out of Kuwait, the US punished them mercilessly (e.g., highway of death) and chased them far into Iraq. They were on the verge of capturing Baghdad it seems.
It was then Secretary of State Colin Powell got cold feet and convinced the Administration to halt, for fear of the US getting the reputation as a bully in the world’s eye.
IOW, his actions prevented dealing with SADAT years earlier than we did, at a very high price of soldiers’ lives numbering in the thousands.

Looks like a good place to drop this. Being a “military” man one would think Powell would have been sensitive to the sacrifices. But I guess not.
330,000 WHITE Union military knowingly went to their deaths to free the African slaves during the Civil War, they followed the directives and emancipation orders of their government. I have never heard an establishment, professional, progressive/ African-American ever recognize, much less thank these dead men for their sacrifices, nor recognize the 260,000 White Union military who were wounded and/or grievously disabled, nor the widows, nor the children, nor the families of the military who also suffered.
Well, one good thing is that Carter is getting so old and senile he can’t get in front of a camera anymore. I’m glad of it. The bad thing is, in a couple of years there will be someone to take his place, and he will probably live for a long, long, time with us taxpayers footing the bill while we have to listen to his crap.
Carter the previous holder of the most damaging and inept president, will probably leave the scene right at the time his successor, Obama, will take his place in that role.
He is aware that is president is “demonized” and the Anti-Christ or at least one of his servants doesn’t he?

Colin Powell single-handedly advised GHWB not to attack Saddam’s retreating forces all lined up in a miles-long caravan. GHWB listened to Powell, and this fact led to the second Gulf War a little over a decade later, which cost American lives and fortune. Had GHWB not listened to this floating turd, we may not be in this mess with Dictator Obama decades later....screw big-mouth traitor Powell! He is worse than a simple RINO or a Democrat.
I’m sure he’s right. There are certainly some small elements (an element can be as small as a single person) in the Republican party who are racist bigots. How in the world is that relevant to anything since every group, including Democrats, have “elements” that hold bigoted views about something? I could just as easily (and rightly) claim there are “elements” in the Democrat party that are bigoted against people (whites for example) based on the color of their skin.
If Colin Powell is only pointing out that a small minority of Republicans demonize minorities and women, his point is largely irrelevant and does absolutely nothing to actually help fix the problem. His motives would also be suspect, i.e. such as mentioning it only for political purposes. If, on the other hand, he is seriously claiming a large percentage of Republicans demonize minorities and women, I would have to demand he prove his point with actual evidence of such. I doubt very much he could unless he equates “not agreeing with” to “demonizing.”
