Reminds me of when I was a kid in Indiana. The local resturant/pizza place had Coca-Cola syrup that they mixed with ‘fizz’ water (carbonated water) to make the Cokes they served. We had a Coca-Cola bottling plant in town that served the local area, until a tornado disassembled it one spring.

“Fountain Coke” (Coca-Cola syrup + carbonated water) is what one gets at all kinds of places, including McDonald’s. It isn’t as highly carbonated as bottled Coke or Coke-in-a-can. I don’t want to have a fountain Coke dispenser at home.
