The ones who read their Koran book know this. Ive always thought Israel should find a way to get this message out better.
Israel does need to get this message out better; there’s a British imam, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Hussaini, who caused a kerfuffle a few years back by saying, You will find very clearly that the traditional commentators from the eighth and ninth century onwards have uniformly interpreted the Koran to say explicitly that Eretz Yisrael has been given by God to the Jewish people as a perpetual covenant. There is no Islamic counterclaim to the Land anywhere in the traditional body of commentary.
A Turkish Sheikh of my acquaintance said the same thing; he added that modern claims to the contrary are the result of Arab nationalism “....overriding the explicit command of God Himself” which he called “blasphemy”.
Of course, that same Turkish Sheikh had some less than charitable comments regarding Salafism and Wahhabis in general. “Agents of the devil” was the phrase he used to describe them.
Too many Muslims pay more attention to hadith than the Koran.
