my impression was that leno was harsh but only asking questions that liberal viewers would have asked had they had the chance. in that sense, leno was bending over backwards to be honest, instead of just giving cruz softball questions. it seems plausible to me that leno and cruz could have agreed to the direction beforehand. however, this is just a conjecture on my part...
