With Anger Building, Boehner Puts the Brakes on Amnesty
Breitbart.com/Big-Government ^ | 2-6-2014 | Matthew Boyle & Jonathan Strong

In an abrupt switch from his months of work to bring immigration reform back from life support, Speaker John Boehner told reporters today that the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written.

“There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. And it's going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes,” Boehner said.

The change in tack comes after rank-and-file members pushed hard against action on the issue this year when immigration “principles” when unveiled at a retreat last week and top immigration hawks had begun to discuss how they could thwart Boehner in his march to bring the issue to the floor.

In the hours before Boehner made his surprise announcement, lawmakers and aides had told Breitbart News that early discussions had begun about whether to force a special leadership election in the event Boehner moved forward with immigration legislation.

“It’s going to require blood if this happens,” one GOP member said.

Boehner is on the right track with this: "At the press conference where he made his surprise announcement, Boehner said Obama has exacerbated the distrust on the issue with his recent vows to act with or without Congress."

Who can trust Obama about anything as he has shown his willingness to break Constitutional Law and lie about what he said when there are YouTube videos with him saying what he said he wasn't saying......Obama is a Liar...Period.

Boehner/McConnell do not want major gains in the GOP House and Senate; this year, or any other year for that matter. They brought up the amnesty issue on purpose. Why? Why do they always play to lose? Does Barry have the goods on them?

Obama cannot be trusted to implement the laws as given. Come on BoneHead file articles of Impeachment. Bonehead has no spine and is a emasculated male. He is no better than a spineless jelly fish or an amoeba that changes it shape whenever pressure is applied.

More pressure. More pressure. More pressure. They want to be reelected. That’s the only hold the public has on them.

Why does Bretibart.com put out this silly crap? Boehner is not doing any such thing. This is a head fake to bolster his position and "look tough" in response to the calculated "retreat" trial balloon. Then in 2 weeks we will see him move the McCaul "border security" bill through the House, saying it will hold Obama accountable. It will do no such thing. It is designed to take the bill to conference to advance the amnesty agenda.

They know what they are doing. Don't be fooled. And pay no attention to the amateurish ping-pong of Breitbart "news" stories (remember, just ONE DAY ago these same authors told us: "BOEHNER, UNDETERRED, MOVES FORWARD ON IMMIGRATION". Huh? Realize that Boyle and Strong know NOTHING about the actual plans, just speculation from Numbers USA and Sen. Sessions' staffers. Boner and the Chamber of Crony Capitalism are taking the LONG VIEW. They will wait for their chance -- and seize it, and we must be ready.

This is propaganda pure and simple.

People here continue to buy these lies and deceit...It's just incredible...

It's like they've all got political battered wife syndrome.

These people keep getting lied to, hoodwinked, kicked in the teeth while being financially and politically gang banged and they keep coming back for more.

We’d like to believe he is responding to the folks but according to the info in the story he’s more likely responding to getting his speakership voted on. And that is just plain dishonest and has nothing to do with honoring his oath of office.

Nice one.

He could just as easily have said, "until monkeys fly out of Hillary Clinton's butt".

Theoretically, both are 'possible', but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for either one.

Dishonest politicians? Shocked. Shocked. Vote on his speakership is an issue, because the other congressmen want to be reelected, too. If that’s the only weapon you have, wield it. Remember Ivanhoe on the worn-out palfrey.

“Sealing the border first” is just one more bull$#*! cover for Amnesty.

Anything less than deporting the millions of foreign citizens residing illegally in the United States is defacto amnesty.

And this is why you hear the GOPe treason lobby touting “sealing the border first”- it does nothing about the huge problem of illegals already inside of the country. The treason lobby has no intention of deporting any foreign nationals.

They want the problem to get bigger because they believe that the massive size of the illegal alien presence cows you into granting them amnesty. GOPe treason lobby mouthpiece Michael Medved has been spouting this propaganda line for years.

First the treason lobby hacks were saying “there is no illegal alien problem- that’s just bigotry coming from nativists and xenophobes”. Then when it became obvious that the public wasn’t buying that load of crap they turned on a dime and began saying “the illegal alien problem is too big to solve by enforcing the law and deporting them. You have to give them Amnesty”. I heard Medved do this switch within the space of one month. And what he says gives you a clue to what the GOPe is up to.

These people are tone deaf.

Does Boehner think that republican and conservative voters have amnesty or legal status for illegals high up on the list of issues we want them to spend their time on?

They get elected by thousands and thousands of people and then set their agenda on what a handful of paid lobbyists tell them.

“I despise the games....
..and it’s all a game!”

Yes. And it’s too bad that they think their opponents are the American people (their political party base).

the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written.

It is sad to say, but we couldn't even trust President Bush to keep his word on enforcing immigration laws.

Remember the border fence he promised to build? Most of that money was wasted on studies and his "virtual fence", which was just another costly Federal boondoggle that never worked. In fact, I think that was the plan right from the start.

We haven't had a president since Ronald Reagan who made an honest effort to shut down the borders. And then when Reagan made an agreement to do that with congress he found out that they were lying and never followed up on their promises.

Guess Obama will get his pen and phone. The laws or congress does not matter much to him.

Show of hands. Anyone here have any doubt as to whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws as written? Pretty sure we're all positive it can't be. No doubt about it.

Ive noticed FR isnt terribly different than DU in that they both love their respective despots....and will give any number of excuses as to why its OK for them to operate above the law. LOL, the law & order types are OK w/ breaking the law when it agrees w/ their ideology. Bottom line is we’re at this place b/c the electorate is corrupt. The pols are only a mirror and amplification of who we’ve become as a people.

The very fact Boehner went there in the first place is enough to oust his sorry ass
because his agenda will NOT change. Like the RATs, he will try again and again because
the RNC now believes their base is just as Stupid as the Dems base. He may be right.
