Or we could stop blowing money on bike paths and public transportation.
To the extent that the Federal Gas Tax is used for roads and bridges it is one of the more fair taxes. It is based on use. If you have a larger vehicle or less fuel effecient you pay more. You are rewarded for frugality. If they need more money for the projects..I support a higher gas tax..provided we aren’t funding high speed rail, bike paths, and other spurious projects. All those should be supported by other taxes. We need good roads and construction generates jobs(get rid of the prevailing wage laws and end taxing the contractors to shift money into general funds).
With a bike path, at least some of us subjects get Something for our hard earned taxes even if its a pittance in comparison to what the leviathan takes in.
But i know what you mean.
Here's a dandy.
Ohiopyle Falls is the site of a new visitors center. The center will be used for recreational commercial white water rafting companies to coordinate their activities with the state park.
The center will be largely funded through a $4 million grant awarded by the Federal Highway Administration for Pennsylvania byway projects in April.
The river is navigable only by raft, kayak or canoe.
