But now there is a movement afoot not to deny that fact, but to obscure it, to insulate children from it so as to create the impression that everyone is special.

The people of this movement want moral authority. When they assert stupidities such as ‘merit is bad’ and then society caves on the point and everyone fearfully salutes the lie they gain more than just the point; THEY BECOME AUTHORITY.

We are 40 years down the line on this so I’m not quite sure WTF everyone is suddenly concerned about. The time to point and laugh is long past.

A continued lack of diversity on his show would prove his detractors’ point — and make him look racist and sexist, even if he’s merely failing to actively think about matters of race and sex — while increased diversity would seem to acknowledge that the “nonsense” isn’t so nonsensical at all.”

if his new show is funny, it will prevail... Seinfeld did rather well without "diversity," and so have many others: Friends, Frazier, How I Met Your Mother, Mad About You, Just Shoot Me, Home Improvement, Murphy Brown, Everybody Loves Raymond, Fresh Prince of Bel Air... etc...

if it is funny, he will get his audience... i hope Jerry is not moved by what these idiots think of him, except to realize this is what it is like to be a conservative...

Mr. Incredible: You mean you killed off real heroes so that you could *pretend* to be one?

Syndrome: Oh, I’m real. Real enough to defeat you! And I did it without your precious gifts, your oh-so-special powers. I’ll give them heroics. I’ll give them the most spectacular heroics the world has ever seen! And when I’m old and I’ve had my fun, I’ll sell my inventions so that *everyone* can have powers. *Everyone* can be super! And when everyone’s super...

[chuckles evilly]

no one will be.
