I own a farm, so I guess I qualify as a farm pimp. If you're interested in a few facts (which from your post, I doubt, but there may be others who are):
- Approximately 80% of this $1 trillion “Farm Bill” is for food stamps - not farmers! Liberals have to hide their socialist spending addictions under such non-descript names, like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). BTW, the so-called $23 billion cut (over 10 years) is really just a reduction in the rate of increase. It actually represents an inflation-adjusted increase of $258 billion. That’s a 37% increase in real spending - most of which will NOT go to farmers.
- Americans spend 10% of their incomes on food – the lowest of any country.
- For every $1 spent on food, farmers receive less than 12 cents for the raw products.
- Farmers will need to double food production by 2050 to keep pace with the world’s population.
