They would rather have a vacant lot than a nice retail grocery such as Trader Joe’s. The activists have made their choice. They prefer blight over a business which is not a black business.
Therein lies the problem. It is a description of decades of neglect by community organizers. In fact, their activities killed the dream that inspired MLK Blvds in every city in America. In my travels around the country, which have taken me to 49 states, I find every MLK Boulevard to be the most blighted part of a city.
And who needs those jobs that might have been created, anyway? This way the residents of the ‘hood can keep their options open and be free agents.

Trader Joe’s is not an expensive store overall. It’s a great store for a single person or couple. Uh well, I haven’t seen any hog jowls or chitlings there though.
