Agree, a total misuse of scarce government funds by Egypt’s government. Egypt is a poor country and most of its people need subsidized bread to survive. Egypt is unlikely to be militarily attacked as its only resource is a lot of hungry people. Germany is probably selling the subs with a big loan to Egypt just to keep German armament workers busy.

As far as I know this is absolutely not the case. HDW (the producer of the subs) is quite busy in the moment. Even Israel ordered new German subs (the Dolphin-class is simply a advanced 209)...
