After several days of talks with their members, House Republican leaders have not been able to identify a debt ceiling package that could pass with only GOP support, according to multiple senior aides.
In fact, they’re nowhere close.

In a closed meeting Tuesday, Speaker John Boehner urged Republicans to get their act together so they don’t have to pass a clean debt ceiling bill from the Senate. But several senior GOP aides and lawmakers say that scenario is looking more likely. Senior Senate Democratic sources are delighting in the House Republicans’ disorganization and say that the House should move first.

When asked whether anything could attract 217 Republican votes, Boehner demurred.
“We’ll see,” Boehner said. “Listen, the goal here is to increase the debt ceiling. Nobody wants to default on our debt. But while we’re doing this, we ought to do something about either jobs and the economy, about the drivers of our debt. And so we’re talking to our members, and when we have a decision, we’ll let you know.”

How about dropping the debt ceiling by $1 trillion and require spending cuts, except in the military, to make it so.

Ever notice the democrats are in Nazi lock-step on every issue and the GOP is always divided?
Very true. Thing is, with the dems, you get the division prior to mid terms because of the stuff they voted for that sucks in order to get that lockstep cohesion. Take Obamacare, all of them know it really sucks big time. They are really sure they are going to get the boot.
I don’t think they have a lot to fear though. The dems have the cheat machine fine tuned and they know the GOP establishment buffoons will do nothing.
The establishment GOP doesn’t care whether they get re-elected because they hate and back stab their own base.

The interest on the debt gets paid by a separate Treasury account. What remains afterwards goes into the Treasury's main account for funding Federal spending.
Not raising the debt ceiling just = instant balanced budget. They can't spend more than is taken in.

Sheesh! Boehner must have a bad back by now, from walking around all day holding his ankles. Why doesn’t he just switch to the dhimmicrap party and be done with the charade?
The disproven notion that failing to raise the debt ceiling would necessarily lead to default on debt payments is being thrown up by the pubbies?
We are truly a one-party nation, at this point.
Time for a new Conservative party to emerge from the chaos that is our nation, today.
