Prompted by criminal charges, Little Canada man announces run for council

Andrew Joseph Henderson announced his candidacy for the Little Canada City Council on Thursday, roughly a year after he was criminally charged for videotaping the activities of a sheriff's deputy and ambulance crew outside his apartment.

Henderson, 29, said Saturday his ongoing trial played "a good part" in his decision to run for city council, although he said he would have run either way.

"I believe the government should be watched and held accountable for the people," he said. "People are in charge of the government and not the other way around."

Henderson was charged in Ramsey County District Court with disorderly conduct and interfering with an ambulance crew.

On Oct. 30, 2012, Henderson was sitting outside his apartment building shortly before midnight when he saw and began video recording Ramsey County sheriff's deputies frisk a bloody-faced man. Paramedics then loaded the man into an ambulance.

One of the deputies, Jacqueline Muellner, confronted Henderson about recording the incident and told him, "If I end up on YouTube, I'm gonna be upset." Her words were recorded on Henderson's cellphone.

When he told her he wasn't doing anything illegal, she confiscated his video recorder. When the sheriff's office returned the recorder a few weeks later, he said the recording of the night's events had been deleted.

I don’t get how this is considered interfering with anything. It’s not like the guy was in the fray physically deterring them from performing their police/paramedic functions.

The Stasi is alive and well in suburban MN.

Good to know, I go to this area at least once a week.

I used to be a good supporter of the police. Now, I think the vast majority are a bunch of POS MO FOs.

“...he played an active part in repealing a Little Canada law that restricted members of the public from wearing clothing of the opposite sex, which was considered a misdemeanor.”

Wow...Little Canada sounds like Gestapoville. They actually had that kind of law?

I could care less what a guy wants to wear as long as he uses the proper bathroom...and, DOESN’T ASK ME TO DANCE.

“I think the vast majority are a bunch of POS MO FOs.”

The problem with the fuzz is that they all think that everyone
who doesn’t have a badge is a criminal and deserves no
respect at all. The rule is if your a law abiding citizen
the fuzz can’t do anything to you at all. But the fact is
they can do anything to anyone they want and they have the
full support of the government, even the judges, backing
them up. They are the American Stasi and this is all
part of a slow implementation of martial law. It is with
full intent that our governments hire only people with
this mindset. The constitution may as well be dead if there
is no one with a backbone to enforce it, ie..the spineless
republican party.

As it should be. The way things are going though it will
be a hate crime to turn that dance down. In truth, this
whole equal rights for heterophobes is all about gaining
access to children for recruitment and personal play toys.
The first step is to legitimize homo marriage and then
adoption.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. Martial law is their ultimate goal. The gutless old party will do nothing. Their power (what little the rats let them have,) is also threatened by freedom loving people. They will be there, declaring martial law, right along with the rats. I do not think there is any solution to this, or at least I am not going to say what I really think.
