Thanks, I was unaware of that.

Do you know if this PILT amendment includes the O&C Lands monies for Oregon, California and Washington?

Unfortunately, the Republican Party did NOT abandon principle. The Republican Party simply did not act in accordance with what people believe should be Principle. The Republican Party has not had anything like that for many years. The operating Principle of the Republican Party is the One Party Socialist Democrat State.

Actually, the Farm Bill doesn’t contain any direct subsidies for farmers (at least most farmers); its pork comes in the nature of food stamps, governments “research”, “conservation” projects, and the like.

There are all kinds of subsidies, price supports, “crop insurance” and stuff. They even pay people not to farm, I remember reading that plenty of wealthy people apply for that who live in cities.

Farm, don’t farm, prices goes down, price goes up.. there is a government give-away for that. Then we have the dairy compact, egg board, sugar and peanut licenses, grape board or whatever to control the price and supply of these goods and to be a barrier to entry for others.

It’s all garbage.

Don’t even get me started on corporate welfare

Paying folks (who live in cities and never did farm) not to farm is hardly a subsidy to farmers; it's a direct subsidy to the politically connected.

Crop insurance, on the other hand is a subsidy, if somewhat indirect. Oddly enough, it's a government program which pays farmers not to diversify or otherwise take reasonable management steps avoid risk.
