There has to be pin-point financial and political support at state, county and town level. Both parties are corrupt at the federal level. A third party is hamstrung by the system.

Exactly right. There are plenty of "moderate" Republicans I wouldn't invite over for dinner because (just like the Liberals) I would have to hide the silverware and use plastic sporks instead.
