The popular and informational television station Animal Planet has named New York City the worst city for rats in the world. In this case, they are not referring to politicians. We are talking about Rattus norvegicus, otherwise known as the "brown rat." Brown rats are a scourge to rural and urban areas and are one of the most serious pests on the planet, carrying diseases and multiplying at exponential speed. One pair of rats can multiply up to 200 times in just one year. They are adept at climbing, swimming, and yes, working their way thru a serpentine of sewer pipes and exiting your toilet bowl. It is estimated that NYC has twice as many rats as they do humans. If you run the math, that would total about 16 million rats. But no worries, the New York's Health Department provides an interactive map for residents to view rat infestations on RIP (Rat Informational Portal). The series of maps mark the blocks with the worst infestations, coloring the most densely infested areas with red. As a result, one can look at raw data and investigate any neighborhood or building to see to what extent any particular venue is infested. Clicking on an area of the map will supply inspection dates, actions, and results. Moreover, one can retrieve rat history, going back to 2009, of any address within New Yorks five boroughs.

Does the map have 1600 Pennsylvania Ave on it?
The boys on Duck Dynasty would unload their shotguns on the rat piles just like they do on beaver dams.
There is no easy solution for the
democ RATS!
If there isn’t already, there will soon be a Rat Protection Society. After all, rats are living beings and must be protected. Where is PETA on this- they must stop the persecution, mistreatment and execution of all the innocent rodentia! Where are the sensitive environmentalists calling for New Yorkers to LEAVE the city to nature? Funny how that works on a single property basis when some frog is resident, but not when millions of rat lives are at stake.
Priorities folks. Got to get rid of soda pop first.
Demonrats and all their little furry friends. Perhaps God at work to warn the foolish sinners of the consequences of sin. Or they may just be unclean and uncaring fools who vote for fools and liars and thieves .
Give ‘em all little snow shovels and put ‘em to work.
It would be interesting to overlay a map of bed bug infestation. Maybe the rats are carrying them on their backs.
In New York City, they refer to them as “de Blasio Doggies”.
My mom had rats in her cellar right after Sandy. She put out traps. A tenant saw this and reported it. My mom received a violation because of the traps. I think the fine was $100.00.
If you have rats, you receive a violation.
If you set up traps, you get a violation.
If rat poison is used and a rat dies, you get a violation.
Rats are a protected species in NYC.
Are they registered to vote?
To live in this town you must be tough, tough, tough, tough, tough!
You got rats on the west side
Bed bugs uptown
What a mess this town’s in tatters I’ve been shattered
So many tourists from around the world visit NYC and think “this is America”. No, it ain’t.

I think I saw that sign in front of the NYC mayor’s office, no?
I have never lived in the City (or the State) of New York. However, a (female) high school classmate of mine did live/work there for some time.
She said that cockroaches are also ubiquitous in the Big Apple.
Any questions on why people might want to depart NYC — Radicals in charge, corruption everywhere, plenty of crime, extremely expensive, high tax rates, draconian anti-gun laws, pro-homosexual, pro-Muslim, rat-infested, and cockroach-infested?
My dad, grew up in Brooklyn, tells a story of seeing an early morning stampede of thousands of rats. They crossed a street and went down a sewer.
True? maybe...He sounded convincing.
