I doubt it.

Costco has no stores closer than 100+ miles to us, while there is a Sam’s 45 miles away in a town of 50K, with 2 universities and 2 major regional medical centers.

We investigated Costco, to see if the trip would be worth it. Their lowest membership fee is higher than Sam’s. The tiered membership isn’t cost effective combined with the trip.

Anyone can get a one-day pass to shop Sam’s without a membership. Costco requires a member sponsor.

The level of inventory is higher than Sam’s. More higher quality stuff at higher prices.

I don’t think they serve the same demographic.

Exactly the same as for me!

Sam’s is a lot closer to Costco’s product level than they were, say, 10 years ago, but they’re still a notch down. I’m about 3 miles from one, and Sam’s is about 12.
