Shouldn’t we use caution when assigning special powers to institutions? We have not been cautious enough.

Ever since 9/11 we have been allocating extraordinary powers to law enforcement. We are beginning to reap that which we have sown, as the truly rotten elements grossly overtake the thin blue line.
