An Israeli defense contractor says it plans to reveal a new missile defense system based on lasers that are designed to heat and blow up incoming warheads, the latest answer to Israel’s growing concerns about regional instability.
At a conference next month in Singapore, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Ltd will unveil the system – Iron Beam – a “High Energy Laser (HEL) based system Against Rockets, Mortar and Airborne Target Attacks,” the company announced on its website.
According to the website Israel Defense, the objective of the system is to combat rockets and mortars that are fired from short distances which Israel Defense Forces’ Iron Dome anti-missile batteries are unable to knock out of the sky.
“The system would be most relevant to the Negev town of Sderot, which is situated less than four kilometers[2.5 miles] from Gaza and, therefore, largely unprotected by Iron Dome,” the Times of Israel noted. (...)

How dare those Israelis defend themselves! They’re supposed to allow the missiles to explode on their schoolhouses.
The Muslims are rolling out their own version too.
They tie flashlights to broomsticks and yell “pew pew” when they fire it at the Israeli rockets that are about to take them out.
Even a simple scan of the Bible will tell you that the Israelites were some of the fiercest and ruthless warriors of all time. From the days of Moses and Aaron down to the present they have been renown for their deceptive and effective war tactics plus a take no prisoners philosophy. The Muzzies are truly playing with fire. Just sayin'.
But Laser Based Systems are untried, unproven and can never be operational. they’ll just polish their missiles and the LASER will bounce off. Actually it’s a Particle Beam weapon measured in Newton Meters per sq. Inch and it’s like getting hit by a car.
If it is a particle beam weapon, there is no deflecting that. And it would represent a huge step forward in High Energy weapons systems.
One of the arab scientists back over 1000 years ago that pioneered the art of optics was of course persecuted by mooselimbs...
They often had direction from Headquarters, after it was made unmistakably manifest where the order where coming from, versus some man getting a vision in his head that told him he could marry a 9 year old. .
