Mayor de Blasios wife, Chirlane McCray, wants her own office inside City Hall and to play a hands-on, policy-setting role in her husbands administration, sources told The Post.
Officials have been scouting space for New York Citys new first lady, who described herself as a sounding board and partner to her husband during his campaign and transition to mayor, a source said.
And the administration has been working on a portfolio of issues for McCray to tackle, another source said.

Of course she does.
When you elect a liberal politician, you get 2 for the price of one.
Yeah, so long as they take any expenses for her out of HIS paycheck and not garner any additional expenses for the NYC taxpayer. I didn’t vote for either of this unholy pair.
These women are actually setting the women’s movement back by riding on hubby’s coattails. Hello. You are supposed to make it on your own. That’s what it was all about in the sixties and seventies.
More and more, I am finding that women who are too young to have witnessed the women’s movement of that time are completely ignorant of its principles. They missed sisterhood too, most of them, and think women are still supposed to compete with one another just for the sheer nastiness of it..
Unless they have gone the women’s studies route in college, in which case they are too far over the deep end to make sense anymore.
When did she get elected?
Liberals think politics is a family scam - - well, liberals AND Bushes...
A “former” lesbian......the kids must be SO proud.
What does “Huma girl toy” mean?? Huma is Hillary’s squeeze.
I should have said a “Huma-like real girl toy” since the first dike of New York needs an office in which to do things.
It was tried in Kansas City by Mayor Funkhauser. His wife worked in city hall and got charged with making a perceived racially offensive comment and it screwed up his whole administration. In a lot of ways he was not a bad mayor. As mayor he would make an effort to attend weddings at black churches just to emphasis that they were important (Not every one, of course.)
He at least understood that part of the cycle of poverty was the “unmarried and out of wedlock” part of it, unlike a lot of Democratic mayors. (I think he got that from talking to Jack Cashill!)
