First-grader told to stop talking about Bible
Fox News ^ | January 14, 2014 | Todd Starnes

The parents of a 6-year-old girl said their daughter was humiliated when a teacher interrupted the child’s one-minute speech and told her to sit down because she’s “not allowed to talk about the Bible in school,” attorneys for the California family allege.

The incident occurred Dec. 19 inside a first grade classroom at Helen Hunt-Jackson Elementary School in Temecula, Calif. The previous day the teacher instructed boys and girls to find something at home that represented a family Christmas tradition. They were supposed to bring the item to school and share the item in a classroom presentation.

Brynn Williams decided to bring the Star of Bethlehem that adorned the top of her family’s Christmas tree. She also worked on a one minute presentation to explain that her family’s tradition is to remember the birth of Jesus at Christmas time.

“Our Christmas tradition is to put a star on top of our tree,” the little girl said. “The star is named the Star of Bethlehem. The three kings followed the star to find baby Jesus, the Savior of the world.”

Liberals are taking a law (Amendment I - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...) and using to do just the opposite of what it says. Americans need to stop fighting this at the administrative front and settling for apologies and start making heads roll at the school board and administrator levels.

I wonder if a child could talk about the koran?

Did all the other children manage to discuss their Christmas traditions without mentioning the Bible or Jesus? How would that go?

The kid was doing EXACTLY what was assigned.

If the religion or tradition involved was something other than Christianity, the ACLU would be all over the teacher and administration like white on rice. I hope her parents do not allow this matter to rest and find some good pro bono representation. I have a lot of respect for the Thomas More Law Center. They might be a great place to start.

Time to sue that teacher, personally. What is her name?

“After Brynn took her seat, the teacher explained to Brynn in front of all the other students that she was not allowed to talk about the Bible or share its verses,” Tyler said.

Evidently, the teacher meant a different "Christmas" than what this young lady understood.

That’s exactly the question or the test to perform.

Would she have been stopped from talking about the Koran,
and if not, this is strictly an anti-Christian personal policy on the teacher’s part.

Singling out a specific religion for persecution, are we, teach?

Talk about a “Christmas” tradition... but don’t mention Christ?

I suppose the irony escapes the moronic leftist teacher.

I really wish the founders took more time on that Amendment for future evil, scum lawyer-saturated generations. The teachers and principals are bad enough, but it is the underlying chilling effect of lawyers and lawsuits that is driving this and every other PC bull crap we have to constantly deal with in public schools. Just the fear of a potential lawsuit makes these schools do irrational things. They are betting on us to not make a stink and getting back in line, and the atheists and liberal loudmouths suing them.

I expect that Santa talk is acceptable but would perhaps generate some ridicule from the audience since they’re reaching the “age of enlightenment”.

That is a big part of it, along with the fact that most of the teachers, administrators, and board members agree with the atheist and liberal loudmouths.

I think it’s pretty weird that a whole class - 20 kids, maybe - could talk about Christmas without mentioning Jesus.

Parents...do you want your children exposed to people like that for 8 to 9 hours a day? Ask yourself that and answer it honestly.

Temecula first-grader Brynn Williams is pictured with a Star of Bethlehem from atop her family's Christmas tree. She brought the star to school as part of an assignment to share a family Christmas tradition, attorneys say. (Courtesy photo)

Yes, "weird" and even "tragic".

Even worse, the principle agreed with the teacher:

“The principal confirmed that Brynn’s teacher did the appropriate thing by stopping her mid-presentation and there are specific education codes that protect the school,” Williams said. “
