If your family can lay claim to your success and is a network of interlocking relationships in which you don’t get to choose your spouse, nor live in a nuclear family without ties to your extended family then your country will be backwards.
That’s the formula.
It’s so simple.
This is why many formerly backward countries are moving ahead; their family structures are geared toward power and success through professional lives as well as marital alliances and unlike us, they are actually uninterested in being politically correct or ‘nice,’ but actually CARE about the well being of their family members.
