My former business partner tried pot once and had a psychotic fit that left him in bed with hallucinations for three days. (I’m pretty sure it was mild stuff. I was at the start of the same party and the New Yorkers were okay the next day.)He later went crazy. But I think he had a good head start. But he told me he’d never had pot before or since. That, I believe. So, just once is enough if you’re already on the edge. Problem is, you won’t know how far away the edge is until too late.

Makes me think of the stuff issued to me by the Govt.: Mefloquine. Taken once a week to ward off malaria. FDA approved, and required for use in countries with chloroquine resistant malaria. Everything is just fine for several hundred thousand of us for a couple of years. FDA says it's all good. Regional medical officers swore by it. Then suddenly guys on military bases start murdering their wives and children. Some experience hallucinations, bizarre mood swings. I was in Zaire when my furniture and carpeting tried to devour me one night. I was screaming like a little girl. I immediately flushed all doses down the toilet, and decided to take my chances with malaria. I had been taking Mefloquine for nearly two years without problems up to that point. You never know how far away that edge is...
