****He won over $400K and still wants/needs/deserves government benefits? Astonishing****

Agree with you. He is 55 years’ old and will likely live off the taxpayers for another 3 decades unless some auditor catches on (i.e. does his/her job).

Don’t State and Federal tax regulators get their cut before lottery distributions???

I don’t think FL has a state income tax.

You have to go to the article to find this:

*****
It took a few days before Ramsey’s winnings, $302,446 after taxes, became available.

Curiously enough the general application of tax laws both in Canada run the same. If an individual gets monies they have to declare it on their tax returns. Now monies taken from such a person as this unfortunate man, are indeed taxable as income. I will say I stand corrected if this is not so.

I have heard a few horror stories of the IRS in collecting taxes on this website. If they honed into someone getting a 19,000 dollar watch etc. they could demand a statement about the tax returns of that person. You had 19,000 dollars and have you declared it as income?

Oh I forgot, the persons are not exactly tea party calibre (laughs).
