Christie bridge scandal: Woman died after traffic delayed medics (Christie's Mary Jo Kopechne...)

A political retaliation scandal that erupted around Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday may be about to get worse.

In September, according to a report from the Bergen Record, paramedics trying to reach an unconscious 91-year-old woman in Fort Lee, N.J., got stuck in a traffic jam that had apparently been created by Christie's associates as political punishment for the borough's mayor, a Democrat. Multiple lanes were forced to merge into one, gridlocking traffic for days.

The woman later died at a hospital of cardiac arrest, according to a Sept. 10 letter that EMS coordinator Paul Favia sent to the borough's mayor.

And yet Christie is still breathing with all those clogged arteries.

Christie has shown himself this past year to be an egotistical, out of control, morally bankrupt fool. It’s time he devolves into nothing more than a footnote of history.

The GOP-e and Dims must have come up with a better patsy to run against Hillary and lose.

Christie is blaming an aide who he fired. The problem for Christie is that he did not surround himself with silence to the death Sicilians. The Democrats control the state senate and will hold hearings. This woman will have to testify under oath and does not look even remotely Sicilian.

Still doing better than Obama. Even after fast and furious and Benghazi he hasn’t fired anyone.

“The GOP-e and Dims must have come up with a better patsy to run against Hillary and lose.”

Well said.

And, regretfully, true.

And the search for a replacement RINO begins.

GOP - not dead yet, but hopefully soon will be.

I watched a feature on Uncle Teddy K not too long ago and among the footage shown was a woman who greeted him during a campaign (1980?) bid by saying “You’re just as handsome as your brothers.” Now only if Christie was cuter.

Apparently, the ambulance got there in 7 minutes.

Perhaps the fact that she was 91 years old was more of a factor in her untimely demise.

Not to defend this pie eating slob but the Mary Jo Kopechne comparison is ridiculous

"an unconscious 91-year-old woman"

Be a better Mary Jo analogue if the governor had the old lady drunk in the back seat, committed adultery with her, plunged his Oldsmobile into the Hudson, swam to Manhattan and then lied about it.

Other than that, pretty good fit.

Based on how he’s handled this crisis to date, it may really turn out to be Christie’s bridge to nowhere

If the woman’s family, looking for a big payday, decides to sue citing the alleged delays as the “but for,” this could get quite interesting.

Not the first time Krispy has let crony politics endanger public safety.

During the power outage, Southern electricians were sent up to help bring it back on-line, and were sent home for not being Union. Viciously.

This is two instances of disregard for public safety, I’m sure there are many more we haven’t dug up yet.

Christie couldn’t pass Romney’s vetting because of all the cronyism and mafia thug behavior. There more to come out and Karl Rove and Reince Preibus know it.

There needs to be some serious jail time for anyone found culpable of this. It’s no different than vandals taking down a stop sign at a busy intersection. And I don’t believe for a minute that Christie wouldn’t have known, given the seriousness of the closings and the immediacy of communications nowadays.

Based on how he’s handled this crisis to date, it may really turn out to be Christie’s bridge to nowhere

He fired the people responsible, unequivocally denied any foreknowledge of their actions, and answered hostile questions from the media with concrete answers for over an hour on a televised press conference this morning.

His presidential dream has thankfully died, it was never that strong to begin with, but he could give lessons on the way to handle a scandle.
