Gates criticism is too little too late. Where’s the book’s profit going? If it’s not all being donated to the Wounded Warriors Project, it’s blood money. Same goes for the military brass. Silence. Same goes for the churches and their incredible silence, all in an effort to keep their tax exempt status.

I quit a job over principles, and I needed the job as much as the next person. It required me to stand up to the intimidation of a trade union and one of it’s favorite sons by reporting serious safety violations to the management at a nuclear power plant, when no one else would. I wondered whether I might catch a stray bullet, have an untimely automobile accident, or a really big surprise starting my truck one last time.

.... with White House aides facing off against four-star generals.

Morons versus ascended masters, and the morons won.

Sometimes the better part wisdom is to ‘stay in the game’ to ameliorate the damage.

So it was said about Gates when he reported aboard, that that was his motivation.

So, how did that insider game work out for us this time, guys?

What would have been the downside to letting Obama have his head, run wild for a while, and using the ensuing smashup and disaster to instruct the educable part of the electorate?

Right now we're getting the worst of both worlds. And FReepers are posting mordant reflections that, if the Iranians and Norks do nuke us, at least they'll take out scores of millions of reflexive and invincibly ignorant Democratic voters.

Oh geez, now it all comes together and makes sense. Clinton’s campaign has begun.

Shoe, meet floor.

It would appear that Gates's signalling to Hillary may be another part of the move by the RiNOate to repudiate and, if possible, expel the GOP base ("Main Street Republicans") from the Party, the better to converge and merge with the apparently-victorious Reds.

Here, Gates is moving even farther and faster than most of the hashmarked powers-that-be, and openly making his transitional walk away from what used to be Republicanism, to play for the other side.

If there's to be a one-party government and a one-armed "People's Republic", then Gates would like to be part of it.

All for unselfish, public-spirited reasons, of course.
