This sounds like the Massachusetts State Police, where the way Billy Bulger fought corruption scandals was by demoting and firing police who got on his trail.

Were the cops fired for being corrupt or for revealing corrupt officials?

It’s option B, the cops were fired for investigating corrupt officials.

This probably has nothing to do with corruption. It has to do with the two Islamist parties fighting over whose people will be in positions of power and authority. The party in power is consolidating.

There was as much truth as fiction in the movie “The Departed”, wasn’t there?

A recent Spengler post offers some insight into what may be transpiring here:

“Turkey is coming apart. The Islamist coalition that crushed the secular military and political establishment–between Tayip Erdogan’s ruling AK Party and the Islamist movement around Fethullah Gulen–has cracked. The Gulenists, who predominate in the security forces, have arrested the sons of top government ministers for helping Iran to launder money and circumvent sanctions, and ten members of Erdogan’s cabinet have resigned.”

I would imagine that the fired officers are of the Gulenist faction.

Maybe this will present an opportunity for the secularists and the Kurds.
