Nixon? The guy who imposed wage and price controls and reached out to Red China? That right-wing radical?

Writes for both the Saloon and Algore Jezeera. That’s what I’d call a real two time loser.

Well, they said they wanted to transform the country,
so let’s get transforming, to a more “Dickensean”
America.....wait, wasn’t he English?

Honestly these people are as crazy as a shit house rat.
Oh I’m sure it was always the secretly conservative media
that helped Nixon, Reagan, and the Bushes....Yeh right.

Grasping at straws while whistling past the political
graveyard.

failure of Bush’s presidency became an inescapable fact, conservatives were once again forced to create a new narrative in which conservatism wasn’t to blame.

The idea that Bush was a conservative - laughable.

I trust you can detect the rambling, non-sequiturs throughout this meaningless blather. I gave up trying to find an argument that actually conveyed an idea.

He also gave us OSHA. Nixon was not a conservative. The only conservative President we have had in my lifetime was Reagan. Eisenhower might qualify, but I don’t know enough about his domestic policies to comment on whether he does or not.

With respect to Nixon, don’t forget Amtrak.

As for Eisenhower, he gave us the very left wing Interstate Highway System (still the largest public works project in the country’s history), with enforced taxation on certain products to pay for it. He also expanded Social Security, and laid the foundation for what we now call “crony capitalism” and the whole unaccountable “czar” system in the cabinet with his nine “businessmen and a plumber” having great power in the economic and domestic sphere. He was also very much against Joe McCarthy.

The U.S. already has the smallest, least effective welfare state of any advanced industrial nation in the West

He at least got one thing right.

Follow him on Twitter at @PaulHRosenberg.

No thanks. I get enough Marxist indoctrination from the MSM already.

RE :”From Nixon to Reagan to Gingrich to Bush to Paul Ryan and Chris Christie today, leaders who’ve shifted America to the right have been aided by moderating misrepresentations. “

Those are radicals? GWB shifted America to the right? When did that happen?

and who started the EPA.....

This article says too little and is far too long, I began to lose consciousness.

I am glad the USSR is no more, but obviously the writer isn’t. For all the crimes they have committed, not too much in the way of column inches to celebrate the end of the Red menace.

This is commie apology, and soft-pedaled socialism as if we are in acceptance of it. Hey commie, I really don’t care that someone makes more than me, I am just happy to live in a country where someone can!! It only means there is huge opportunity! You and your dole buddies don’t believe it and that’s why they are riding the line.

Why are the leftists so jealous of successful people?

"It all started with Richard Nixon. Despite his early success as a rabid red-baiter — years before Joe McCarthy first cribbed notes from him"

So much ignorance and imbecility in this article, it's hard to know where to begin. Hey, Paulie, Nixon & McCarthy were both elected to Congress the same year: 1946. I guess that doesn't fit with the narrative.

Try reading “Conscience of a Conservative” to get Barry Goldwater’s take on the Eisenhower administration.

Hint: Interstate and National Defense Highway System.

I’m not sure I’d describe Ryan exactly as batting for the other side (although he’s definitely moved to the RINO zone) but this article is bizarre because it shows you exactly how little it takes to be described as a “radical right winger.”

Nixon was a total statist, which describes (and always has described) every member of the Democrat party. Funny how the Dem pot is always calling every other kettle black.

I think we need a new way of classifying people. It’s not “conservative” or “liberal,” but “statist” or “non-statist.”

Libertarians, oddly enough, are some of the most statist people out there. That is, they want to do whatever makes them feel good, but they want the state both to approve, control and impose it.
