These officials, one of whom claimed to be an eyewitness, said that three Swedish emergency managers in the delegation were rattled when the gun's laser tracked across one of their heads before Hauer found the map of New York, at which he wanted to point.
Hauer, commissioner of the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, was disabled by a stroke a few years ago and can be unsteady. He isn't a law enforcement official. He carries the loaded 9-millimeter Glock in a holster into state buildings, an apparent violation of state law barring state employees from bringing weapons to the workplace, several witnesses say.

Gun for me,
Not for Thee
It sounds like an In Living Color skit.
That should rattle anyone. It was just stupid.
And the AMAZING lack of any shred of curiosity on the part of public “safety” officials about whether the firearm was legal, in a legal area, pointed illegally, etc.
But, if YOU have one [you know the rest].
In October and it’s just now coming to the forefront? Why can’t this dude use a laser pointer on a pen like everybody else?
“disabled by stroke”
I would assume this would impair his coordination as well,
increasing the likelihood of negligent discharge.
Good thing NYC has some of the most restrictive carry laws in the nation. Keeps morons who don't know how to handle a gun from carrying. (Oh wait..)
The Swedes are lucky he wasn't a NYC cop. Because then they'd have probably been shot. Of course it would have been a "good shoot."
So are keyboards.
If the stroke was years ago how likely is it that he is still unsteady from it?
This is a twofer.
Portraying people with guns as inherently irresponsible (legit criticism of the man in this case) and at the same time advancing the notion that injuries are permenantly debilitating.
I would suggest the primary goal here is to work towards removing second amendment rights from anyone who has ever had a brain injury. Whether it be stroke, PTSD, a tumor, depression, anxiety, or what have you.
Linking all brain injury to this one unthinking bureaucrat.
Piece by piece.
That was one of my thoughts as well. Incredible.
He was 3 of 4. Give him a break.
It’s OK if he points a loaded gun at your head. He works for the government.
The jerk should not be so cavaliering with his firearm. He is irresponsible.
Even the laser would be dangerous to point at someone’s face let alone the 9mm it’s attached to. This clown is an insult to clowns everywhere.
Stupid.
If he was that desperate for a laser pointer, most of them easily detach from whatever firearm they are mounted on to. Sounds like the guy was just intentionally making an ass of himself.
But remember, the left insists that these guys are the ONLY ones who “know how to properly use firearms” and thus “should be the only ones with firearms”.
Absolutely disgusting.
Aha! Another way I can use my Ruger 38 with the red laser. Thanks!
This fool is Director of Homeland Security for Cuomo!!!???
