Yeah, and when we walked home it was all up hill too!
Uphill BOTH ways, of course!
The problem in Chicago is that some of the kids mothers spend the hat and glove budget on booze, drugs, or new (stolen) 19” alloy wheels for their BF’s beater AND the stupid union bus drivers will call in sick at the last minute and leave the kids standing in the -50 wind chill.
I love cold weather, but -50 wind chill is a bit cool.
When I was a kid, there were 2 days in a row when it was -15 actual temperature both mornings as I waited for my bus, but no wind at all. I was stunned when I found out how cold it was. It didn’t feel cold.
Barefoot and naked?
Did you mean uphill both ways?
When I was a kid, I had to walk up hill, coming and going. And all I got for lunch was a cracker.
“When I was a kid we walked 10 miles to school,up hill,in 3 feet of snow.”

That’s nuthin’ Hell, when I was a kid I walked 4 miles to school uphill...both ways.
