Violent crime against women in Afghanistan hit record levels and became increasingly brutal in 2013, the head of its human rights commission said on Saturday, a sign that hard won rights are being rolled back as foreign troops troops prepare to withdraw.
Restoring fundamental women's rights after the Taliban were ousted by a U.S.-led coalition of troops in 2001 was cited as one of the main objectives of the war.
Under the Taliban, women were forced to wear the head-to-toe covering burqa and barred from leaving their homes without being escorted by a male relative. Schools for girls were shut down.
Sima Samar, chair of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), told Reuters in a telephone interview that the brutality of attacks on women had greatly intensified.
"The brutality of the cases is really bad. Cutting the nose, lips and ears. Committing public rape," she said. "Mass rape... It's against dignity, against humanity."

The real war against women.
One of our local female National Guardsmen went to Afghanistan as a “Woman’s liaison”. She says aside from small children, no one there is worth saving.
She says the women are just as fully “koranatized” as the men. Their only role is to produce fighters for jihad and if they’re unfortunate enough to have female children, they atone for it by raising them to know that their role is to produce fighters for jihad.
Barry is about as successful overseas as he is domestically. </sarc>
Come on, he can’t be screwing up this badly by accident. Nobody is this incompetent. It’s gotta be intentional.
A real 3rd world pithole, all in the name of Allah.
Haqqani network: Mawlawi Jalaluddin Haqqani (Pashto: جلال الدين حقاني) (born c. 1950) is the leader of the Haqqani network, an insurgent group fighting against US-led NATO forces and the government of Afghanistan. He also fought in the 1980s Soviet war in Afghanistan, including in the Operation Magistral. By 2004, he was directing pro-Taliban militants to launch a holy war in Afghanistan and hit government targets inside Pakistan. Steve Coll, author of Ghost Wars, claims that Haqqani introduced suicide bombing in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.
Hezbi Islami (also Hezb-e Islami, Hezb-i-Islami, Hezbi-Islami, Hezb-e-Islami), meaning Islamic Party is an Islamist organization that was commonly known for fighting the Communist Government of Afghanistan and their close ally the Soviet Union. Founded and led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, it was established in Afghanistan in 1975. It grew out of the Muslim Youth organization, an Islamist organization founded in Kabul by students and teachers at Kabul University in 1969 to combat communism in Afghanistan. Its membership was drawn from ethnic Pashtuns, and its ideology from the Muslim Brotherhood and Abul Ala Maududi's Jamaat-e-Islami [2] Hezbi Islami seeks to emulate the Ikhwan militia of Saudi Arabia and to replace the various tribal factions of Afghanistan with one unified Islamic state. This puts them at odds with the more tribe-oriented Taliban.

If the Ruskies had done the job right there wouldn't be this disaster called The Land of the Afghans today.
The ONLY reason ANYONE cares about Afghanistan is because of their huge amount of opium growing. Without that they are USELESS. And since the West is the biggest USER of opium/heroin, that 3rd world pit hole is important.
Send in N.O.W. and Code Pink.
Patty Murray’s so incredibly stupid that she probably did would answer but spoke into the earpiece. She takes idiocy well into the tenth power. She’s too stupid to be a good communist. Frankly I don’t care for her.
Thanks for not accusing me of being related in spite of that. It's true however, that I wouldn't think better of her if she were edible.
...”the women are just as fully koranatized as the men. Their only role is to produce fighters for jihad and if theyre unfortunate enough to have female children, they atone for it by raising them to know that their role is to produce fighters for jihad”.....
That’s right......
Sad that we go into countries and somehow think we can change their behavior when barbaric and twisted Islamic teachings will always trump everything and anything attempted to change their plights.
Even in the USA it’s very difficult for woman accustomed to abuse, who somehow escape, to stand on their own without much help and loads of counseling. And even then many return.
They come here to be free yet even in the USA...the women still wear the burqa. Go figure.
I don’t know why people keep posting these articles.
What is the point? Do you think we should invade Dar-al-Islam and forcibly convert these savages from their cult?
For myself, I could not care less how they worship their god, what they do with their women, how they wipe their a** after they sh**, what their position is on Miley Cyrus - none of that concerns me in the least, at least as long as it stays over there.
Engagement with Muslims in their own lands was a foolish, foolish venture which has done incalculable harm to America. There are many things wrong with “Barack Obama”, but the fact that Muslims act like Muslims if there’s not a US Marine around isn’t one of them.
It should have taken no more than a week to explain to Mullah Omar and King Fahd how Trident submarines work. What a tragic waste the Bush-Obama phony war has been.
With bombs with hair triggers strapped to their bodies.
Not so sure they come here to be free as few have understanding of what that really means, but they bring their culture and religion with them and spread it around from those I have known.
Foreigners coming here now don’t become Americans as once did...they simply come and continue to practice their culture and belief systems while building their own communities to re-enforce what they had in their home country, with the idea Americans must adapt to them and their culture.
