Simple. The New York Times did not want to find such evidence, so they did not. It absolutely does not matter what their research and investigation revealed, the story was already written before that. They only investigated to see if there was some way to blame it on Republicans.
The NYT is, like virtually every other MSM outlet, completely dedicated to the liberal agenda. They (none of them) are any longer "news" organizations, they are propaganda outlets pure and simple.
