We have never been under their thumb.
We joined the UK in 1707 (UK/Britain is not the same thing as England), joined, not conquered or pressganged. And Scotland has thrived in the 300+yrs of the Union. We basically ran the Empire, and Scottish society and industry thrived by being part of the superpower that lasted until the last fifty years, and still remains a world power. We have done very well by being part of Britain.
The idea that Scotland is an oppressed nation under English thumbs is a nonsense. Frankly, for a lot of those ‘oppressive’ times, we Scots have run Britain!.
...so they can be under Brussels instead.
