KFI 640 becomes "local talk" . . . .

The "Fairness Doctrine".. it's ba-a-a-a-a-ck only this time it's called "Localism".

"...leftists, rather than openly pursue a new Fairness Doctrine, now seek to achieve the same basic outcome by exploiting a vague FCC rule called 'localism.'"

There's also the matter of self-imposed "Fairness Doctrine" where owners and hosts actually believe "experts" who say that the public is turned off by political talk and criticism of PRESIDENT! Obama.

Some said that Clear Channel putting prog talk on its stations was a way to fend off the Fairness Doctrine. It wound up failing. But yes maybe “localism” is the new thing and every now and then I hear of plans to regulate radio similar to
Fairness Doc (which was really unfair).

Can the govt tell newspapers and magazines they have to present diff. points of view? No. The same should apply to
radio & TV. If there were a real fairness doctrine, you would wind up hearing conservative opinions on...NPR.
For them it’s “fairness for me but not for thee”.

1200/1430 Boston (now business radio, Spanish)
1150 LA giving way to conserv talk
920 Prov RI, Clear Channel changed WHJJ to conservative talk from progressive talk. “The Air America experiment is over,”
said the program director at the time.
