DAYTONA BEACH -- A man tried to rob a store with a pellet gun Friday, but the store clerk had a real gun and shot at the robber several times, scaring him off.
It happened at the Ice House convenience store off International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach, just before 1 p.m. Friday.
The owners of the convenience store, who fear becoming a target of more crime, said the clerk was in fear for his life, which is why he grabbed his gun and fired several shots.
Surveillance video shows the robbery suspect lingering outside the store before making his move inside where investigators said he pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash.
Investigators identified the suspected robber as 35-year-old Eric Scott Riddle, from Palm Coast.
At one point in the video, you can see Riddle aggressively pointing the gun at the clerk. Police said the clerk told them Riddle actually pulled the trigger, but the gun, which turned out to be a pellet gun, didn’t fire.

I watched the video 2x, but didn’t see the clerk shoot... what did I miss?
I couldn’t see any shots fired either.
He shot at a guy with a pellet gun? He shouldn’t be allowed to carry a gun if he can’t tell the difference between a real gun and a toy gun. /s

So, he tried to rob a store that had its own pellet gun. I like to see stores defend themselves and their owners, but these days stores need to have real guns.
Too bad Riddle wasn’t riddled.
But I didn't see any sign of a shot by the owner. Other than a little hand movement, no recoil, no broken window, no flying debris, etc. Just arse and elbows. He may have fired one into the wall just to make some noise. Too bad there's no audio.
I like the perp's extended shoe tying while he waited for the customer to leave the store. Sure sign he's up to no good. These guys never tie shoes.
I can’t figure out what spooked him, unless it was a car pulling into the lot and a door closing. The article said the owner fired several shots; I just don’t see it, unless he fired out the door, after the perp had left... that would be idiotic and endanger bystanders’ lives.
