Hmm...This statement may require some scrutiny - it doesn't pass the smell test...

We are surely agreed that in the cases for which the safety net was intended--war widows, sick children, the poor elderly, people who are injured, mentally ill, suffering from some disease--we will help them, if there is no financially strong family to feed and house them. It's when you start paying single women to have children out of misplaced compassion and a desire to avoid hurting feelings that Society runs into a big liberal problem.
