They didn’t find a gun at the scene.

Has suicide been ruled out? I was thinking the same, considering he couldn't live without his wife; but the article states no weapon was found at the scene.

There was no weapon there, which there would have been, if it was suicide.

Has suicide been ruled out? From the article...
"The police are conducting an active homicide investigation, based on the condition of the body when it was found and because police did not recover a weapon at the scene, Windsor police Capt. Tom Lepore said."
Unless this 87 year old guy managed to shoot himself, then go out and dispose of the weapon and then go home to die, I'd call it homicide.

Yes, as there was no gun at the scene and he died from a gunshot wound.
