My understanding of why Pollard was kept in prison and remains there, is because of the assertion that Jews, regardless of nationality, owe their allegiance to Israel. The thinking at the time was that if every Jewish person with classified access thought there wouldn’t be significant penalties, then no secret anywhere would be safe.

Pollard gave away secrets that it is only the president’s prerogative to share. (BTW, this is why Saddam Hussein didn’t have nuclear weapons. Pollard gave away his weapon’s program to the Israelis who bombed the reactor. They also did this in Syria, but last I read the Syrian reactor is rebuilt and back in operation. I’m guessing, though, that Assad is too busy fighting alligators to drain the nuclear swamp, so to speak.)

Considering he was sentenced to life in prison for spying against the US, he probably will di a covict, good riddence to bad rubbish. Spying for any foreign entity is still spying, ally or foe.

D*mn. Putin must be treating Ed Snowden for dinner right about now. This guy just keeps giving and giving.

I wonder when the Kenyan information starts leaking out.

Good article about the whole thing.

“This is not conditional nor connected to the recent event, even though we gave our opinion on these matters,” Netanyahu said, hinting that there was a private government reaction to the revelations over the weekend that the US National Security Agency had spied on Israeli leaders.

Publicly, however, neither the Prime Minister’s Office, the Foreign Ministry, or the Defense Ministry were commenting on the revelations.

Individual ministers did speak out on the reports that in 2009, the US National Security Agency and its British equivalent, the General Communications Headquarters, hacked into the emails of former prime minister Ehud Olmert and former defense minister Ehud Barak. The revelations came to light after Edward Snowden, a former NSA employee, leaked them to the press.

“The secret is out,” Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz said on Sunday. “The US is systematically spying on the defense and diplomatic leadership here in Israel. Is this how friends treat each other?”

No one else in the history of the United States has ever received a life sentence for this offense, whose median time served is two to four years.

In that one who vies for the greatest enemy of Freedom in history is currently our President (ugh, what a foul after-taste), suddenly seems to lessen whatever Pollard could have done.

See? Do we truly understand the vile effects this one man’s thinking has on even people of conscience?

I'll always support Israel, but that doesn't mean supporting Pollard's freedom.

Yes Sir!

I support Courageous Israel standing up to the Islamist maniacs!!!

That said, upon rereading Wiki, Pollard was “selling” this illegally obtained information to the highest bidder, usually Israel!

There is no moral equivalence to Pollard and NSA.

And undoubtably, much of that intelligence Pollard gave wound up in the hands of the ChiComs.

If the israeli’s catch one of their own that spied for the U.S. they can throw him in prison for as long as they like. Pollard should leave his jail cell once his body has reached room temperature.

How many spies does the U.S. have in Israel? How many Soviet spies got away with it, how many were exchanged with the Soviets?

I understand but do stand to be corrected that the information given by Pollard to Israel was then bartered by them. This was to get the release of persons from Israel imprisoned in Russia.

Sadly that information was then used by the Soviet to imprison Russian persons who were dealing with the USA. They were alternately tortured and executed.

One has a hard time dealing with mercy if this is a fact.
